History

Xception is a research product from University of Coimbra (Portugal) developed in the middle nineties. It started being marketed in 1998 by Critical Software. Now, the main commercial target is the aerospace customers concerning computer and software reliability. Academic research is still using this tool to perform evaluation of Oracle databases running the TPC-C benchmark (DSN 2000) and to perfom evaluations of a real-time control application (DSN 2001) and COTS systems for space applications (DSN2002).
